Networking
Networking is an essential job search tool, especially in a downturn. During a downturn the relative size of the hidden job market increases from the normal 75% to potentially more than 90%. So networking is a must.
Networking for job search is also quite different from the networking that sales people do. You are not building a network of clients, all you are trying to do is let as many relevant people as possible know that you are available and what sort of job you are looking for. It inevitably turns out that your network is much bigger than you think.
In this module we cover:
- The do's and don'ts of effective networking
- Common myths and misunderstandings around networking for job search
- Designing your personal networking strategy
- Creating the initial scripts that you are going to use
- How to translate networking contacts into meetings and interviews
You will find that through your personal and professional networks and access to online networks you will get your message out quickly and in a very targeted fashion.
